Young Adults

St. Augustine’s is a university parish. We reach out to the young adults in the Tempe community and those who are students at Arizona State University. Young adults attend each of our three services. However, they predominately attend our 11:45 am service on Sunday mornings.

This service provides for a unique ancient/future setting. The liturgy and music are intended to create a reflective and contemplative mood. Our musicians are professionals. They have re-written the ancient hymns to allow the guitar to be the main instrument that leads our voices in worship.

Every step of the service is intended to be friendly for young adults and the young adult family. We provide Godly Play at 11:45 am for those with young children. The children are key participants in the celebration at the Eucharist.

Young adults gather on Thursday nights at Peregrini to share a home cooked meal and to engage in conversation about “God?” and how current topics might effect how we think about God. All are welcome and no topic is outside the bounds of possibility. This is a gathering without expectations, agendas and absolutely no preaching. Everyone’s opinion has equal voice. This is a safe place to explore free expression of ideas.
